Useful Information
Getting Married in Saint Helen's
Please speak to one of the priests at least a year before your
proposed marriage. You will be invited to take part in a Marriage
Preparation Course with other couples in the Archdiocese. If you
are getting married abroad, it is particularly important to give
plenty of notice
Catholic Schools
Our parish is served by two Catholic Primary Schools: Saint
Conval's 0141 632 0745) in Pollokshaws and Saint Bride's in
Govanhill (0141 423 7733). Also by Holyrood Secondary School, Dixon
Avenue (0141 423 8932)
Teacher Approval
Teachers in Catholic Schools require approval from Church
authorities. Please make yourself known to one of the priests in
advance of requesting approval so that we can testify that you
attend Saint Helen's. Consider becoming involved in some area of
parish life-the better known you are the fuller the
reference!
If someone is sick
Please contact one of the priests immediately if you or someone in
your family is sick. The priest will visit and, if required, an
Extraordinary Minister will come every week with Holy Communion. If
a family member is admitted to hospital, make it clear to the staff
that he/she is a Catholic and would appreciate a visit from the
Catholic Chaplain. In an emergency, a Catholic priest is on 24 hour
call to the Victoria Infirmary. Don't hesitate to ask the ward
staff to page him.
